So I was lookin around google for how to partition my server & came across this!

In other news, search engines suck, or linux docs suck, or both, haven't decided yet.

Current setup:

Main comp has a dual boot setup with winxp home & ubuntu 6.10 & a shared fat32 partition for files. go me! I can now play new games again as long as they don't make me get vista. :P

The old comp still has straight ubuntu but I just burnt a 6.06 server cd. I want to have a web server & a file server to mess around with, but I'm too scared to install it just yet; hardly know what the hell I'm doing & the documentation isn't the best @ explaining what & why things are, just that they are & what commands to type...

I guess the best thing to do is just install it & start messin but I don't want to get hacked. :(

I gave up on the wireless shit cuz it sucks even in windohs! I now have the 50 ft of cable off the floor & going along the ceiling & wall from one room to the next. Whoever thought up nails & twisty ties is a really good person.

And the D2 ladders are resetting tomorrow. :P I will upload funny img here when I reboot into windows & go get them... CZAI COME BACK!!! THe only bad thing is that some faggot has my first set of keys, No idea how that happened but I just got a set off ebay for $8. Never done shit like that before so sorta scared. :( The battle chests are still $40 so fuck that. :P

it's so nice i could probably download my family for a visit & save myself a plain ticket. :P

i only have one problem; my modem is hooked up to the old computer & there's only 2 ways i can get to the internet with the good comp: get my belkin wireless g usb thing working with ndiswrapper, or use 50 ft of ethernet cable to connect to the router. that's what i'm doing now until i figure out the ndis thing. this is funny cuz i got it working on the old computer with qwest, so i dunno wtf is going on. i posted on the ubuntu forums about this & of course i got no reply. not even the chat rooms were a help when i went in. so i guess i'll have to make due with cable going from living room to bedroom till i get this sorted out.

this is the ONLY THING wrong with linux; i don't know enough yet to be my own tech support & waiting for replies is a pain in the ass. the chat room ppl were like: go read the docs! and i'm like I ALREADY DID!!!

after karen's little run in with windows suckiness, i started looking into linux. i installed ububntu edgy on my old computer & i think i got most of it working. :P it took like 3 weeks to get wireless working cuz i suck & used the wrong driver file from the cd lol. now is the time to try to get stuff working on the main computer. ubuntu dapper & edgy both freeze up on this one cuz i use a ati x800 xt video card. i downloaded the latest knoppix live cd & that's what i'm posting from right now. so far so good i guess... i dunno if i like kde since it has so much shit on it. :P i almost want to wipe it all tonight & install it to play with for a while....but i'm scared...and i have to back things up & find my passwords to everything. that trusty floppy disk i kept em all on died.

tonight i get to spend some time using this knoppix cd to rescue a friend's winblows computer. i've never done that before ever. wish me luck. :P
